Thank you for your interest. Here you will find some resources that I hope will demonstrate that I am an experienced web developer and information technology manager with the ability to grasp business needs and integrate them into desired enterprise solutions.

Editorial Beginnings

An IT generalist, I have enjoyed working with computers for as long as I can remember. My career began as a desktop publisher and editor of Lambda Chi Alpha’s alumni magazine the Cross & Crescent, a quarterly 48-page publication that was mailed to 125,000 members.

When the web awoke in 1995, I was naturally drawn to its communication and distribution potentials. I managed the process of producing the first three websites for Lambda Chi Alpha, including an online membership directory and community, before being recruited to work for a dot-com.

Dot-Com Experience

My time with WeAlumni.com was only two years, but I gained the experience of four. Focused on providing a online directories and community services for all fraternal organizations we quickly gained 20 percent of the market. I managed the content for the site, most of our fraternal accounts, and directed much of its layout and interface.

Project Management

The next few years were a mix of more web development and project management responsibilities. Carden Jennings Publishing asked me to open a remote office and expanded their pre-press and web development services. For the Peace Corps, I trained locals how to use computers and spent a good deal of time making hardware repairs due to the harsh environment. Lastly, for Gourad Media Group I served as office manager, project manager, and web designer.

Executive Leadership

Eventually, I returned to Lambda Chi Alpha to serve as a member of its executive team. For four years I served as the director of technology and communications and was given the opportunity to make several significant changes.

Perhaps the most drastic change I made was to discontinue printing the company’s 90-year-old alumni magazine the Cross & Crescent. I replaced the magazine with an electronic version at www.crossandcrescent.com and updated its content monthly. While some of the 150,000 alumni resisted the change at first, many grew to appreciate the frequently updated content, the HTML-rich email reminders, and the alternative podcast and PDF formats.

Lambda Chi Alpha also needed to transform the way it managed its membership records. The company was using an outdated customer relationship management system that was unable to adapt to its business needs, forcing staff to manage many Excel spreadsheets that often required redundant data entry. I introduced a more flexible CRM that leveraged Microsoft SQL and Reporting Services. The new system ultimately reduced staff and exceeded return on investment expectations.

Lastly, I implemented server virtualization solutions. By leveraging Citrix’s XenServer, I was able to use existing hardware to host several operating systems with near bare metal performance.

Closing

Thank you for taking to time to learn more about me. I am a skilled communicator, have managed many complex projects, understand server and network administration, and have developed or managed many online initiatives. I am actively seeking my next endeavor and would appreciate an opportunity to meet with you to discuss how my experience will best meet your needs. Thank you for your consideration.
