Jason,

I've got to admit, if I came up with that title I'd use it too, pretty funny in that clever headline sort of way.

The truth is, we run a huge network and we like to be totally honest about our system reliability. I think when I wrote the system post I was a little more dramatic than I should have been. It was a minor failure of one server out of an entire cluster, even in Washington DC. While I take it very seriously, most users probably had minimal impact, if any, as their queries would have started flowing to another one of our nameservers, 208.67.220.220 instead of 208.67.222.222, for example.

In fact, we didn't get a single report about the outage from any users last night or today which makes me wonder if I should have written it at all. :-)

Thanks for the kind words at the bottom though, I'm stoked you think we're cool.
