I was wondering what the St. Louis Veiled Prophet Parade was all about. I still don’t know, but at least I now know what they look like.

Hello—I am originally from St. Louis and remember going to the veiled prophet parades on Lindell Ave. The only thing I can tell you about the whole thing is that it was more of a debutante ball. The debutantes were presented to the veiled prophet in “court.” I remmeber pictures of him with heavy white veils all over him and he was seated holding a large staff. What it all meant, I really don’t remember, other than it was a big deal to look at the pictures of all the debs in the paper the next day and watching the parade. I hope this is helpful. I’ll send more info if my family has any more memories of it.
